Dictation is Tippiti’s standard mode for one voice and one document. You dictate the medico-legal report, clinical letter or diagnostic report on your dictation device or smartphone. Tippiti transcribes the recording and turns it into finished text. Dictation commands such as “full stop”, “no, delete that” or “move that to the top” are carried out. Dictated spellings such as “Clarke with an e” are incorporated and remarks to the typist are removed. You can upload DSS and DS2 files directly from your dictation device without converting them first.

Nobody dictates in final-draft prose. You correct yourself mid-sentence, jump back, spell out a name, think aloud for a moment. Dictation mode thinks the way an experienced transcription service does. It understands the dictation as a whole and knows what belongs in the document and what does not.

“Full stop”, “new paragraph”, “in brackets” are carried out. Say “no, delete that” in the middle of a sentence and the passage disappears, just as an experienced typist would handle it.

When you spell out a name in the dictation, Tippiti uses that spelling consistently throughout the document. The spelling instruction itself does not appear in the text.

Structure

The outline and the wording stay yours

Headings, lists and paragraphs appear as dictated. Where you do not announce them explicitly, Tippiti adds the structure expected for that type of medical document. The formal language of medical reporting is deliberately preserved. Tippiti does not reinterpret what you meant clinically.

What can be checked is checked

Tippiti checks medication names, dosages, ICD codes, place names and other clearly verifiable details for spelling and plausibility. When a factual detail requires external verification, Tippiti automatically supplements the check with a web search[TOOLTIP] When a factual detail such as a new medication or rare proper name requires an external source, Tippiti automatically checks it against external references.

The search uses isolated factual terms only, keeping patient names, diagnostic context, dictation content and other sensitive data out of the query (see FAQ). [/TOOLTIP].

How the dictation comes back to you

How the finished text reaches your records depends on how you work.

As a Word document

Upload the dictation, retrieve the corrected document and, if you wish, export it in your own DOCX template, complete with letterhead, footer and formatting. After your final review, it is ready to print or send.

Edit and copy in the editor

Fine-tune the text in the built-in editor with formatting, tables, version comparison and Tippsi Chat. From there, copy the text straight into your own system and choose whether to preserve non-breaking spaces and formatting.

With your typist or team

Dictation mode costs €0.50 per 1,000 characters of the finished text. There is no base fee, subscription or minimum term. The length of the recording does not matter. Whether you consult the case file, look up a name or pause after an interruption, you pay only for the text delivered.

A short dictation runs through the same quality process as an extensive medico-legal report. The price is determined by the character count, not by the processing involved. This also makes the cost easy to estimate in advance. You know roughly how long your finished document will be.

How does the dictation mode differ from dictation software like Dragon?

Traditional dictation software transcribes as you speak, word by word. Tippiti writes up the dictation after you have finished speaking.

The difference is the one you would expect from an experienced medical typist. Tippiti listens to the entire dictation, puts it into context, removes slips of the tongue and checks names and medical terms. What appears on your screen at the end is not a rough draft for you to straighten out, but a finished text for you to review.

Tippiti is not limited to dictation. It can also write up an assessment interview, an interview or other conversation. Traditional dictation software needs someone to dictate to it sentence by sentence. Tippiti only needs the recording.

Can I use my usual dictation device for AI transcription?

Yes. You can upload recordings from professional dictation devices directly to Tippiti, including DSS and DS2 files, as well as recordings from a smartphone or dictation app in formats such as MP3, M4A and WAV. You do not need to change your recording workflow.

Your existing device records the dictation, and Tippiti turns the file into a final, verified text. You can upload files individually or in batches through the browser, or automate the process with the API.

What happens to instructions for the medical typist?

Instructions such as “put this in bold” or “insert in brackets” are carried out. Private remarks (“Ms Müller, please attach the findings as well”) are removed from the text.

You can save recurring requirements, such as abbreviation conventions, formatting rules or standard wording, in an instruction group. Simply select the appropriate group when uploading a dictation.

Does Tippiti understand my speciality?

Tippiti is not limited to a particular medical speciality. It has dedicated processing modes for dictations, conversations and interviews and assessment interviews. For medico-legal reports, Tippiti identifies the type of report from the recording and automatically applies the appropriate structure and terminology. Your own instructions are applied as well.

This allows Tippiti to be used across internal medicine, orthopaedics, psychiatry, social medicine and other specialities.

Can my medical typist edit the result?

Yes. Medical typists can work directly on the platform through sub-accounts with their own permissions. They can access new dictations, edit the corrected text, compare versions and export the final document.
