Clinical letters are among the most frequently dictated medical documents. They are full of details that have to be right, including medication lists, dosages, ICD-coded diagnoses and the names of patients, doctors and institutions.

Tippiti doesn’t just take your dictation down. It cross-checks verifiable details against reliable sources and keeps spellings consistent throughout the letter. The content comes from your dictation. Where AI-assisted clinical letter production can go wrong

Modern language models transcribe well, but not flawlessly. Their errors look different from human ones. Where a typist knows what is meant, a model writes something that sounds right but is wrong. The Why Tippiti page explains how Tippiti solves this problem.

Medication

Medicines and dosages

When a model mishears a medication name, the result is usually not nonsense but a different medication that looks just as plausible in context. Tippiti verifies medication names and active ingredients against reference sources and checks dosages for plausibility. When a factual detail requires external verification, Tippiti automatically supplements the check with a web search[TOOLTIP] When a factual detail such as a new medication or rare proper name requires an external source, Tippiti automatically checks it against external references.

The search uses isolated factual terms only, keeping patient names, diagnostic context, dictation content and other sensitive data out of the query (see FAQ). [/TOOLTIP].

Diagnoses

ICD codes and terminology

Tippiti knows the conventions for diagnoses with ICD-10 codes, standard medical spellings and abbreviations. “Chronic kidney disease, stage 3 (ICD-10: N18.3)” is formatted correctly, and codes are checked for validity.

Proper names

Names, places and institutions

A clinical letter names the patient, the clinician responsible for follow-up care, hospitals and other organisations. Spellings from the dictation (“Clarke with an e”) are applied and kept consistent throughout the letter, not Clarke at the top and Clark further down. The fact-check[TOOLTIP] The fact-check verifies details that can be checked against a source, including proper names, medication names, ICD codes and place and postcode combinations. Clinical findings and diagnoses come from the clinician or medico-legal expert. [/TOOLTIP] verifies the spelling of place and organisation names.

Form

Structure and formatting

Dictation commands are carried out, paragraph breaks are inserted and date formats applied. A dictated outline is followed. If you don’t dictate one, Tippiti knows how a clinical letter is structured, from the salutation through diagnoses, history and findings to the clinical summary and plan, and writes it accordingly. You can save your own conventions, such as abbreviation rules, as an instruction group and select it when uploading.

The same multi-stage quality process addresses all of these sources of error. The correction, fact-check and plausibility-check stages work together, and an independent AI validator checks the result against the original recording, automatically triggering another correction round when it finds discrepancies.

The workflow

From dictation to checked letter.

You dictate the letter as usual on your dictation device or phone and upload it as DSS, DS2, MP3, M4A, WAV or another common format. Tippiti then processes the recording from speech recognition through to the finished text.

You can download the result as a Word document, in your own letter template with header, footer and formatting if you wish. Alternatively, keep working in the built-in editor with version comparison and Tippsi Chat. Via the API, the whole workflow can be integrated into your own systems.

What a clinical letter costs.

Tippiti charges for the characters in the finished text, at €0.50 per 1,000 characters. A clinical letter of 1,500 to 3,000 characters therefore costs €0.75 to €1.50, with no base fee, no subscription and no minimum term. Frequently asked questions about dictating clinical letters

Does Tippiti create a clinical letter automatically from the patient record?

No. Tippiti is designed to work from your dictation. It has no access to your practice management system and does not generate content from patient records.

Once you have dictated the letter and uploaded the recording, Tippiti automatically turns it into a finished Word document using your own template. The findings, diagnoses and recommendations come from your dictation.

How does the letter get into my own letter template?

You store your own DOCX template with its letterhead, footer, fonts and formatting. When exporting to Word, Tippiti inserts the corrected letter so that the resulting document matches your practice stationery.

You can store several templates, for example one for each location or client.

Does this also work for discharge and outpatient clinic letters?

Yes. The process is the same: dictate, upload and receive a finished Word document. Discharge letters, outpatient clinic letters, consultation reports and diagnostic reports all use Dictation mode and undergo the same correction and verification as other clinical letters.

These use cases are examples rather than a fixed list. Dictation mode can process any document dictated by one person.

What does a clinical letter cost with Tippiti?

Tippiti charges €0.50 per 1,000 characters of the finished text. A typical clinical letter of 1,500 to 3,000 characters therefore costs between €0.75 and €1.50.

There is no base fee or subscription. If you dictate 30 letters in a month, you pay only for those 30 letters.

Yes. Your own medical typist gets a sub-account with their own permissions. Equally, an external transcription service can take on the letters for you. Depending on their permissions, both can access assigned dictations, edit the corrected letters, compare versions and export the final documents.
